I´m devouring the year of rest and relaxation! i love the new york, plathian vibes... siri husvedt´s new york... the depressing writing.. haha... i´m really enjoying this book. it relaxes me. i missed sitting at home with a novel, like in my teenage years, no cell phone, tv, etc... just silence and my books. enjoy your season too. and rest. and get inspired! :)

The feeling is mutual! I'll still be loitering, just with less intent 🤣

Ah this was a brilliant and affirming read. Absolutely here for the hibernation and feel that it has become my normal mode since having children who are now 3 and 1. I was interested to see raising children on your list of reasons for retreating as sometimes I feel a pressure to be doing all the things and getting back out there... wishing you a gentle and joyful wintertime xx

Kids change the dynamic completely and sometimes that's not really accounted for. One of my daughter's is asthmatic and this time of year is rife with meds, lack of sleep and doctors. I know this now so I purposely under schedule because she needs me.

It's part of my retreat from online life for sure.

I hope you manage some rest with two little ones.

Yes that’s absolutely true.

Ah I do hope your daughter has an ok ride this winter. It sounds very wise to be prepared and to make space for the situation and for being needed by her. My son who is one, nearly two actually, seems to be susceptible to bronchiolitis and has an inhaler now, I am told he may grow out of it but we will see. Sending much love to you xx

It's hard when they are so small, you want to keep them wrapped in cotton wool so they don't pick anything up! I hope you have a peaceful one x

I love to hermit away. I'm at my most comfortable with myself at home. I love that the winter gives me an excuse to do more of this. I've not heard of Otessa and I love a good book so I will check her out.

Her work is very visceral. Maybe start with My Year Of Rest and Relaxation.
