Thank you for sharing your process and your struggles. I'm a total plantser and lover of it for now, but quite curious to see how you end up switching that around for your next book. All the best and looking forward to listen to you.
I absolutely love being a pantster whilst I'm pantsing.... It's just when the edits come I always think I should have planned more to save more time reshuffling later on 🤣
Thanks for listening and I hope your writing goes well this week.
Yeah I get that. I'm diving back in and into second draft this week, after two weeks holidays and a week of Covid (gosh!), but I have hyped myself up with all the shuffling of timelines I'll get to do (it's gonna be quite a work). I just know that no amount of imagination and structuring could have led me to that story so I'll go with that, but maybe a more structured story will happen one day too. Happy writing to you too!
I hope your post COVID brain is ready! If you haven't tried Plottr it might be interesting for you to have a look at structure, they have templates on there which are really useful.

Hi Susan. Thank you for sharing! It's so rare we get an insight into this messy part of the process for novelists. I really appreciate your honesty as it makes me feel a bit validated as well! :')
(I'm almost finished - she says lol - with my first novel/ novella. Pushing myself on it now and struggling with the editing. It's going to be a petite 50-60k words)
Great to hear the self awareness you have around your creativity, your process and when your inner critic kicks in. But there is always room for more self compassion and gentleness with writing isn't there? Good luck with your editing this week <3 Janelle
Ah thanks for listening, Janelle. I'm glad it reached you and gave you some validation. Edits can be a slog, it's like doing a jigsaw puzzle I suppose, once you get the framework things become easier, but it's just getting the backbone right for it all to hang from! Good luck with yours 🌹
A great listen - it was interesting to hear about your processes. And thanks for sharing the tools you use!
You're so welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it ☺️

Yes me too! Thank you, I'll definitely have a look when I'm ready! :)
