Dear friends and readers,

Welcome to the new vessel for my online writing. This message will look very different from my usual letters because I’ve moved!

Welcome to The Wild and the Quiet on Substack.

This is a move that’s kind of a big deal for me on a personal level. My blog has been my online home for thirteen years. Phew!

On Substack, I can combine my newsletter and my blog into something new, a hybrid beast. A personal media channel, with no ads and no algorithm.

There are features here that enable me to embrace new ways of communicating with you, including audio, serialisation, memberships and more.

The platform is a slicker experience for readers too. I spent a long time here as a reader before I finally decided to dip my toe in the waters as a writer. The comments sections in particular are a fantastic way of meeting new people and I hope to get to know you more this way too.

The great thing is, you don’t need to do anything other than enjoy what I hope is a better, more inclusive, personal user experience.

You’ll receive updates in your inbox as always. (There’s also an app you can read updates in if you prefer.)

One of the key benefits of Substack is the archive. With previous newsletter platforms I’ve used, there is no easy way to read previous mailings. I’d be spending hours on writing something only for it to go into your inboxes (yay!) but go nowhere else (boo!).

On Substack, each mailing I send also exists as its own entity, here on The Wild and the Quiet.
