Hello!
No audio today. This week has been full-on. I keep telling myself that I’ll try to do less of *everything else* but then I look around and know that the things I’m doing are both urgent and important.
This method of deciding what to do and what takes priority is called The Eisenhower Matrix (here, if you aren’t sure what I’m on about). I’ve always found it difficult to prioritise, it’s part of what I now know is my ADHD. To me, everything feels important.
So, although my edits are important. They aren’t yet urgent… Although they are getting there.
We are doing a big home renovation project which has needed most of my attention, my kids are off school for the summer, and I’ve needed a rest. Some time away from the rewrite has helped me. I feel ready to figure out a new routine of builders, kids and edits, but I think I’m there with what I’m going to do.
Spoiler alert- it means working before the kids get up and before the builders arrive.
Not all my writing is on a go-slow though. I mentioned last week I’d started a Comma Press course and I’ve got three new pieces from this already. All flash fiction right now, but a couple have scope to be longer stories, in a similar vein to my collection Dark Is The Water.
Speaking of which, if you read DITW after my recent promotion, I’d really appreciate a review on whichever platform you prefer or where you downloaded the book. Reviews help authors find new readers, so thanks in advance.
This week I also got invited to take part in an anthology as one of the guest authors. I’ll be able to share more about this soon, but if you like Gothic fiction, you’ll be into it!
Have a great week.

I use the Eisenhower matrix but the non urgent but important stuff doesn't get done until I'm avoiding the urgent and important stuff 😔
Having been through renovation hell last summer, I empathize. I don't do well with my outer world in chaos. At. All.
I hope you can settle into a peaceful rhythm....even if it's not as robust as you'd like. The thing about the edits, is that they'll wait for you ;). xo
