On breaking a rhythm & reaching Level 43.
Lifting the veil on a writing life #17
Audio is back! Click to listen.
Hello.
I’ve been away and now I’m back. (What a Seuss-like sentence!)
It’d be amazing if you would listen to the audio above. In the time I’ve been away, I believe Substack has begun doing transcriptions of audio, so if you prefer to read, hopefully, you’ll be able to see that somewhere.
In brief, I talk about;

Renovations
My birthday

An extended deadline
An exciting anthology I’m thrilled to be a part of.
Love Letters To Poe is an award-winning anthology series, and I’ve been invited to contribute a story for the third edition.
Within each book, writers take inspiration from one of Poe’s works. For this one, it is The Tell-Tale Heart, a frantic narrative. Read here if you don’t know it.
The anthology is edited by Sara Crocoll Smith and will be published in delicious hardback as well as ebook.
Consider this your invitation to join me and the other writers for the launch event on 3rd October 2023 from 12:30- 8 pm EST. The event is being hosted by the Six Degrees of Poe podcast and is a YouTube Live event.
I’m on the Tarot panel and will be chatting about how I use the cards in my work.
The anthology is funded via Kickstarter. If you are able to follow the campaign, then the Kickstarter algorithm will show it to more people. Thanks in advance!

I hope some of you can join me. The story I’m working on for this is one I’m really excited about. It's set in the past in a weird seaside community and I cant wait for you to meet the characters.
As always, thank you for reading and listening!

Until next time,
Susan.
Welcome back, and lovely audio, Susan!
So nice to hear about your summer break and also the block I can also identify with around asking for what you need. Congratulations on the anthology entry. I remember studying The Telltale Heart as an undergrad. What a story.
Would love to know more about how you use tarot in your work!
Lastly, Bird by Bird is such a brilliant book. Perfect motivation reading, too.
